During my years of teaching, I mentored a great number of wonderful forward-thinking doctors who know what they are doing and what they want to achieve – to become thinkers rather than technicians. I contentedly follow their successes: they have become excellent clinicians, researchers and lecturers. They demonstrate excellent sense for critical analysis, which is a sign of someone who is truly intelligent. They are a living proof that the way I do things is the right way!
Unfortunately, my vision of the profession is clearly not on trend of the world's leading dental business: Drill, Fill, Bill - that's where a huge number of manufacturing companies are striving to reach. In the course of my international activities, I personally met with many excellent scientists and practitioners in the world of endodontics who share my ideas and beliefs. This led me to the decision of creating an independent congress on endodontics.
The idea of this congress is to provide an independent stage to most prominent and renowned specialists with global reputation, while avoiding the commercial encumbrance of the sponsorship of manufacturing corporations, and thus to create an opportunity for the speakers and participants to share their knowledge in a neutral environment. I want to give you the opportunity to enjoy intellectual independent endodontics, and would love to see you join this event.
Josette Camilleri obtained her Bachelor in Dental Surgery and Master of Philosophy in Dental Surgery from the University of Malta. She completed her doctoral degree, supervised by the late Professor Tom Pitt Ford, at Guy's Hospital, King's College London.
She has worked at the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, Faculty for the Built Environment, University of Malta and at the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Surgery, University of Malta. She is currently a senior academic at the School of Dentistry, College of Medical and Dental Sciences, Institute of Clinical Sciences, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. Her research interests include endodontic materials such as root-end filling materials and root canal sealers, with particular interest in mineral trioxide aggregate; Portland cement hydration and other cementitious materials used as biomaterials and also in the construction industry.
Josette has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and her work is cited over 5000 times. She has been awarded the Louis Grossman Prize by the French Endodontic Society in 2018 and is the only female recipient of this prestigious award. She is the Editor of Mineral trioxide aggregate. From preparation to application published by Springer in 2014. She is a contributing author to the 7th edition of Harty's Endodontics in Clinical Practice (Editor: BS Chong) and Glass ionomer cements in Dentistry (Editor: SK Sidhu). She is an associate editor for Scientific Reports and Endo, a reviewer of a number of international journals and an international lecturer.
Dr. Versiani received his degree in Dentistry in 1992. Since 1994, he has been working part-time in the Brazilian Military Police Dental Department in which he reached the grade of Lieutenant Colonel. He is a certified specialist in Endodontics (1999), but also in Didactics (1998) and Bioethics (2003). In 2015, Dr. Versiani concluded his Master Degree and PhD studies, as well as, three postdoctoral programs at the University of Sao Paulo, in which he is currently a Research Fellow.
He has authored several chapters in Endodontic books and more than 80 peer-reviewed papers, being an editorial board member of the International Endodontic Journal. In 2018, he published the book Root Canal Anatomy in Permanent Dentition.
Dr. Versiani has lectured worldwide focusing on his main research interests that are the influence of root canal anatomy on endodontic procedures using non-invasive 3D X-ray micro-computed tomography, towards the improvement of both chemical and mechanical debridement of root canals.
Matthias Zehnder was born 1969 in St. Gall, Switzerland.
He graduated from the University of Bern School of Dental Medicine in 1994, where he received his doctoral degree in dentistry (Dr. med. dent.) in 1996. Subsequently, he worked in private practice and part-time as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Oral Cell Biology, University of Bern School of Dental Medicine. Between 1998 and 1999, he was employed at the Department of Oral Biology and Periodontology, Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He then took a specialist training in Endodontology at Columbia University, from which he graduated in 2001. In addition, Matt has completed a PhD at Turku University (Finland) in 2005, and has received a Docent title from the University of Zürich in 2007.
Currently, he is the tenured head of the Division of Endodontology at the Clinic of Preventive Dentistry, Periodontology, and Cariology, University of Zurich. Matt's main research interests are to develop dental biomaterials, diagnose pulpal disease using molecular markers, and to improve approaches to disinfect dental hard tissues.
He is a former associate editor of the International Endodontic Journal, current editor-in-chief of the Swiss Dental Journal, and on the editorial board of some other scientific journals.
Analysis of the most updated topics in endodontics and clinical recommendations from the world's leading endodontists, independent of any commercial influence
Michael Solomonov and The Congress
Dear friends and colleagues, I am happy to invite you to the Second International Endodontic Congress ProEndo.
I continue to support the concept of independent intellectual Endodontics. I scrupulously selected and invited for you the real stars in contemporary Endodontics.
They will show us private vision of our profession:
Mattias Zender, one of the leading researchers in the field of irrigation and the king of presentations,
Josette Camilleri, who has a fantastic collection of research in the field of trisilicate cements, understands them at the molecular level
and, of course, we will enjoy Marco Versiani with his enormous collection of microcomputer tomography, helping to realize the complexity of the root canal system and showing the capabilities of modern instrumentation.
My lecture, I hope, will be a worthy addition to this holiday.
I am sure you will get real pleasure. I will be happy to see you!
